At Poseidon.. you can have both a romantic getaway or special occasion! Either way, this location does not disappoint. The heat lamp adorned patio is bordered by the glistening sand of Del Mar beaches, crashing waves and epic sunsets. Guaranteed to be your most memorable culinary experience!
Arrive early or make reservations. If you go on the fly your subject to indoor seating or no space at the bar. We arrived around 4:30 and lucked out at a booth near the patio with delightful ocean and sunset views. The bar was packed-standing room only!
Appetizers and the Raw Bar all looked delicious, we decided on my personal favorite to accompany red wine in the Bread and Spread plate.
A generous portion of five spreads {smoked paprika-red pepper hummus, kalmata olive tapenade, cilantro jalapeno hummus, tzatziki sauce and goat cheese} alongside curry brushed grilled pita bread.

If you don't order a starter they bring melt in your mouth dinner rolls with a sweet butter....and in our case you get both, if you ask nicely.
The sun rested on the ocean bed around 5:05pm so we took our time and enjoyed an appetizer and wine before ordering dinner. Our server was extremely pleasant and knew we weren't in any rush so she paced our dinner perfectly. {Thanks Keli for your Superb Service - Big Thumbs Up!}
The menu options had clever identifiers: From the Ocean, From the Farm and From the Field. Everyone is bound to find something that pleases their palate. Steak lovers I dare you to try these tasty steaks from the farm! I can't put into words the deliciousness with every bite, the savory sauces and my cooked to perfection filet mignon had me at hello.
From the Farm
8 oz. Grilled Filet Mignon, potato gratin, chef's vegetables, madiera sauce topped with tomato-jam compound butter
Prepared medium well, al dente mixed veggies and potato gratin - a fancy way of saying scalloped potatoes. {smiley face}
I would not only recommend this, but I would order it again.
From the Farm and Ocean
The special for the night was a flat iron steak topped with dungeness-crab Bearnaise sauce, asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes.AKA Effin Good {huge smiley face}
These meals were huge! Definitely enough to leave any belly satisfied! Its hard not to over eat as you find yourself cleaning your plate as each bite takes you to Foodie Heaven.
No room for dessert this time but on our way out I saw someone enjoying the mud pie, which gives me another reason to come back and visit just for the sweet tooth in me!
If you are looking for the perfect location to create a memory in San Diego then Poseidon on the Beach in Del Mar should be on your list!
