Consumer Perception of Home Ownership Results Are In

Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, part of the HSF Affiliates LLC family of real estate brokerage franchise networks, released results of its first quarterly Homeowner Sentiment Survey.
Interviews with 2,573 respondents were conducted online by Edelman Berland in February 2015. The results are very close to what I am experiencing out there in the trenches aka "Open Houses".
"People's perception of home value in the post-crash era runs much deeper than standard measures of price and location."

    • Safety is important
    • Satisfaction 
    • Place to raise a family
  • Value Perception Varies
    • Boomers & Gen Xers embrace homeownership as "smart, long-term investment"
    • Millennials are looking for "ease of purchase" - ability to close quickly, secure financing, and afford monthly payments
61% of Millennials say it is important to live in a neighborhood with a variety of trendy dining & retail options

Overall, 94% say homeownership is important to their long-term financial planning. 

As we enter the summer months and the peak season of Real Estate Transactions a strong majority of respondents expect more competition for homes as housing inventory remains tight in many U.S. markets. (Especially here in San Diego and La Jolla)
