If I could make a 50 page restaurant guide I would...most of the restaurants in La Jolla are drool worthy. But for the sake of helping you narrow down your choices we are going with our TOP 3, MUST VISIT fine dining experiences we couldn't live without.
Our Favorite Place To Wine & Dine
1. The Med at La Valencia Hotel
There is just something about this little slice of paradise that keeps us coming back for more. Most recently for Easter Brunch...as I sit here daydreaming about having breakfast for dinner and my mouth begins to water. If we had to only pick "one" place to go it would be The Med, our last suppers would be the Filet Mignon (gratin potato is life!) and Miso Chilean Sea Bass. And no fine dining experience would be complete without the popular People's Chef James Montejano, go all in with the Chocolate Sin or keep it laid back with a Key Lime Bar. Either way you will thank me for reminding you to save room for dessert.

The Med’s signature is farm-driven approachability. Montejano, an alum of Michael Mina’s kitchen, has a knack for vanquishing pretense, even while using exalted ingredients. His plump, pearly scallops, for example, have smoked-corn pudding and crispy pork belly for sidekicks.

Located on the famous La Jolla Cove, Duke's is the perfect location for classic views of the coastline and delicious Hawaiian inspired dishes. Savor the flavor of infused dishes featuring local ingredients with a great variety, from Kaffir Crusted Ahi Steak to Pan Roasted Jidori Chicken. There's something on the menu for everyone. Meet for the Aloha Hour and enjoy some of our favorites like the Black Bean Nachos and Poke Tacos with specials from 4p-5p daily.

California Modern "High-End, Hot Spot"
3. George's At The Cove
Celebrity Chef Trey Foshee's belly-filling, seafood-centric creations served alongside massive views of the La Jolla Coast. George's at the Cove is a three-story restaurant with a different vibe on each level. The Ocean Terrace, our personal favorite, is a casual environment with "Million Dollar Views". George's bar has more of an upscale, modern vibe with ocean views as well. California Modern is your fine dining option with a separate menu, four-course and eight-course options as well as specialty entrees.

Much of the produce from his daily Chino Farms Shopping trips gets featured on the menu at TBL3, the Chef’s 3 nights a week dining experience with George’s California Modern. The 12 to 24 course meal is an investment of time and money; dinners cost $170 pp and last 4-5 hours. A chance peek into Foshee’s true culinary personality and philosophy on food and revel in the art of cooking and eating.
