Doing Halloween The Right Way

We LOVE Halloween! Going down as one of our favorite Holidays we enjoy everything about this season. We embrace the traditional activities like trick-or-treating, costume parties, visiting "Haunted Houses" and carving pumpkins. Most of all we relish in the home decor and transformation of our 'norm' around this time.


As the days get shorter and the nights get colder the recollection of Halloween parties and bobbing for apples as a child are memories that bring a smile to my face. Its time to bring out the skulls, witches, bats and spiders and put on a few "spells".

Here is a round-up of our favorite DIY Halloween Home Decor projects. We hope you fill your holiday with mystery, magic and superstition.

Everyone Loves Candy Corn

One of the healthier candies, the recipe hasn't changed in over 100 years! Yahoo claims that the candy corn has less sugar than a raisin...maybe this is why its one of the most hated Halloween candies. 

Nothing beats a first impression like your front door! Whether you choose to scare the pants off anyone that knocks at your door or go the family friendly route, the front door sets the stage.

I've been rounding up my empty jars for the past few months with grand ideas...From spaghetti sauce jars to wine bottles they will help make my DIY projects for Halloween this year.

Two quick tips on removing labels:

1. Peel as much of the label off by hand as you can, pour a few drops of olive oil on a paper towel and rub the remaining label residue. (longer method, but more eco-friendly)
2. Again, peel as much of the label off by hand as you can and get your nail polish remover (Acetone) apply to cotton ball and rub off remaining residue (heavy chemical option)
