...Brussels Sprouts Sliders For 2
Before posting this article I researched about Brussels sprouts. Lots of variations on spelling had me going Hmmm, this is what I found:
Instead of Tempeh I used ground beef patties and they turned out perfectly delicious. And now for my version of meat lovers Brussels sprouts sliders with all the right extras!
INGREDIENTS
Olive Oil
White Onion thinly sliced for Caramelized onion
10 Large Brussels Sprouts
2 Tbsp. Soy Sauce
2 Garlic Cloves, minced
1 Tsp. Cumin
1/2 Tsp. Cayenne Pepper
1/4 Tsp. Dry Mustard (can sub grainy mustard)
1/4 Pound of Ground Beef
1 Tbsp. Dry Onion Dip Mix
2 Slices of Bacon
Toothpicks
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Heat a large skilled over medium heat. Add 2 Tbsp. olive oil, heat for a minute, then add the sliced onions with a sprinkle of salt. Stir frequently, making sure to stir from the bottom of the pan up, dislodging any sticking onions. They will begin to yellow and shrink in volume, as they darken to a caramel color, lower the heat. Keep cooking until desired state, this can take 25-30 minutes. Let cool.
2. Preheat the oven 375F. Rinse and cut the Brussels sprouts in half from top to bottom.
3. Mix together 3 Tbsp. olive oil, soy sauce, pressed garlic, cumin, cayenne in a bowl. Dip Brussels sprout halves into this marinade and line them on a parchment lined baking sheet. Bake for about 12 minutes, flip and bake another 8 minutes.
4. Mix hamburger meat and onion dip mix together, roll into tiny balls that will fit like a hamburger onto your Brussels sprout halves. Cook on stove top to your desired perfection (well, medium-rare, etc.)
5. Assemble Brussels Sprout Sliders, start with bottom Brussels, caramelized onions, burger, bacon, top Brussels and toothpick.
ENJOY!!!
Just in time for your Thanksgiving feast or Football Sunday. These aren't difficult just a little time consuming. So well worth the salty snack making you feel a wee bit healthy for using Brussels.

Before posting this article I researched about Brussels sprouts. Lots of variations on spelling had me going Hmmm, this is what I found:
Brussels sprouts - the variety of cabbage with a stout stem and a budlike head of tightly folded leaves - are named after the city of Brussels. The modern version of the plant was originally grown primarily in the area of Northern Europe now known as Belgium, of which Brussels is the capital. In the name of the cabbage, Brussels is usually capitalized like the name in the city, though some publications don't capitalize it."-The GrammaristA few items were substituted from the original recipe, if we don't have something on hand I usually just make it work. The original recipe was found on Pinterest by Grace over at Food Fitness Fresh Air blog: Brussels Sprout Sliders.
